II Euro-Mediterranean Meeting in Jávea |

The presence of the European Commissioner for Foreign Affairs, Benita
Ferrero-Waldner, consolidates the Euro-Mediterranean Encounter.
“We must guarantee the flow of stable and sustainable energies. We now know that energy resources are limited and that we have to think of the future”. With these words, the European Commissioner for Foreign Affairs and Neighbourhood Policy, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, synthesized the conclusions of the intense work sessions carried out during the “II Euro-Mediterranean Encounter: Energy supplies and regional development: a necessary debate” that was held in Jávea during the 15th, 16th and 17th of May. The encounter has involved the participation of representatives of the governments of Spain, Libya, Egypt and Jordan, as well as the Arab League, the European Mediterranean Institute and the Spanish Energy Club, besides the significant voices from the world of research into energies and companies and organizations from the energy sector.

Jávea Neighbourhood Forum shortly begin a new phase. The imminent creation of the House of the Mediterranean, which the Forum will form part; the celebration of the Second Euro-Mediterranean Meeting, hosted by European Commissioner for Foreign Affairs, Benita Ferrero-Waldner, and the programming of new and interesting activities are projecting the name of Jávea Forum in Spain and in the the world. Its president, José Ribes, leads a team that prepares and finalizes various activities to encourage collaboration among the youth of the Euro-mediterranean area. The first one is the political conference next May.

The Anna Lindh Foundation will promote joint projects among the members of her international network
Jávea Neighbourhood Forum has participated this week in Barcelona at the European Institute of the Mediterranean (IEMed), in the work of the Anna Lindh Foundation Spanish Network, to promote the development of collaboration between the common foundations that make up This "network", to promote cultural sharing and dissemination meeting the objectives and principles of the Anna Lindh, and expand the "Network" to other countries.
In the meeting, opened by the president of the IEMed, Senén Florensa; Gianluca Solera, Coordinator of International Networks marked the guidelines of the work that should allow projects of this network soon with the Spanish network of 43 other countries on both shores Mediterranean. In an informal context, the representatives of Jávea Forum announced its readiness to cooperate actively. Among the proposals was presented to a sample set-exhibition devoted to women and their active role in improving the quality of life of their environments.

Jávea Neighbourhood Forum joints Anna Lindh Foundations network |
It has been officially confirmed the entry of
the Jávea Neighbourhood Forum Foundation in the spanish network of the Anna
Lindh International Foundation..
 The Anna Lindh Foundation, whose headquarters is located in the library of Alexandria ( Egypt),
is a "network of networks" of organizations and foundations, that
drives from the Euro-Mediterranean Conference in Valencia
in 2002, intercultural dialogue and cooperation in the Mediterranean.
Formally established in 2005 between the EU and ten countries in the euromediterranean
area: Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia,
Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon,
Palestine, Israel,
Syria and Turkey. Among its main activities
and objectives are to promote cooperation, exchanges and mobility, particularly
among the young.

IV Euro-mediterranean Energy Forum |

Jávea Forum representatives have participated in working groups of this
meeting organized by IEMED (Institut Europeu de la Mediterrània) and
the Club Español de la Energía, held in Barcelona on 11, 12 and March
13.
 The development of political cooperation between countries on both shores of the Mediterranean and the European Union, along with increasing social and economic interdependence, formed the core of the work performed at the IV Euro-Mediterranean Energy Forum. An event in which addresses the need to vigorously promote development of renewable energy for sustainable development and reduce dependence on petroleum, that matter is addressed in depth in the II Euro-Mediterranean meeting is held in Jávea next May.
The conference opened in Barcelona was attended, among others, the European Commissioner for External Affairs, Benita Ferrero Waldner and the director of IEMED, Senen Florensa. And they were supported, among others, the Observatoire Méditerranéen de l'Energie and the Generalitat of Catalunya, as well as sponsorship of the most important companies in this sector. The working tables have also been used for producers and consumers to discuss in depth the major issues such as security of supply, stable demand and sustainability in the Euro area, today a strategic vision of the world energy.

The Friends Club Committee is established |
The Club will help citizens from Jávea and its surrounding region to join in with the international activities organised by the Foundation.
The Foundational Friends Club Committee from the Jávea Neighbourhood Forum Friend’s club has recently been established with prominent members of Jávea´s civil society taking part. The Jávea Neighbourhood Forum Friend’s club aims to get civil society–from Jávea, its surrounding region or anywhere else- actively involved in all the national and international events organised by the Jávea Neighbourhood Forum Foundation. Its main role is to open up the foundation to all those who are interested in helping out, whether it be directly or indirectly, with all possible aspects: financial, activities, publicising them, giving advice…etc., and also set up sectorial debate forums organised by the Foundation for members of the Club.
